Martha Hall Kelly // Brand Reveal for Atlanta Author

Well. I have not been a very good blogger lately! I am working on it, I promise. I certainly struggle with carving out time for my OWN brand sometimes. All that is changing in the semi-near future, though, because I am in the beginning stages of the new Grit & Wit. A more focused, process-driven business is in the works!

But enough about me, let’s talk about one of my favorite clients of all time, Martha Hall Kelly. Every once in a while someone contacts me and I feel like it was the universe at work. From our first conversation I knew I simply had to work on this project. Martha is an Atlanta based author who’s book, The Rabbits of Ravensbruck, will be coming out next year. I was absolutely blown away by her historical fiction novel about a group of women prisoners in the Holocaust. I really can’t put into words how powerful this story is. Martha came to me needing a site and brand design that felt true to her and reflected her personal style. Not only was she a dream to work with, I also got to work with the amazing Atlanta photographer, Andrew Thomas Lee, whose work I have been drooling over (literally, he shoots for some of our city’s best restaurants) for a couple of years now. We collaborated at Martha’s incredible house and spent the most lovely day together talking about the book, food, Andrew’s Polaroid camera and a million other things. It was a day that had me pinching myself.

Martha’s brand design was inspired by the book and by Martha herself. Her love of the written word, symbolism and classic details helped create an elegant aesthetic. Immediately upon walking into her office, you are struck by the most awesome pin-board of inspiration, keepsakes and clippings. I just knew it was going to be the focal point of the site. There is so much “Martha” on that board! We had fun working little symbols into her branding like the red thread and rabbit (you’ll have to read the book!). You can see how it all turned out below and visit the site here!
